Jerry Jacobs is Professor of Sociology. He is a former editor of American Sociological Review and is the Founding President of the Work and Family Researchers Network. A major focus of his research is consideration of issues of women’s employment. His current research involves exploration of the future of work, including a case study of technological change and elder care. Professor Jacobs is the author of In Defense of Disciplines (University of Chicago Press, 2014) and several other books. He has been a Penn faculty member since 1983, and is just returning to Penn following a year as a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study at Stanford.
